Rydam Universal Ltd is the sole UK service partner for Faymonville Special trailers of Belgium, having worked closely with the world’s leading manufacturer of specialist trailers for over 20 years.

1986The company was founded on the 6th June 1986, originally working as a sub-contractor for Central Motor Auctions. Our core business was valeting cars and trucks, also taking over their paint shop which expanded to commercial painting in over three depots. All from the original Central Motor auctions premises in Rothwell.

1990
The natural progression of the company led to the expansion into specialist vehicle transport, recovery and other specialist services. This progressed from new freehold premises adjacent to our old rented premises which allowed us to expand the business.

1990-1998
Throughout the nineties, we began to expand our specialist services whilst working as far afield as West Africa, East Africa, Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, and the rest of Europe. Thus becoming a true “Universal Company”.

1998-2005
The recovery division of the business grew with the partnership of the leading insurance recovery operators in Europe, handling most of the recoveries here in the UK for the European insurance companies. This expanded into operating throughout Europe for all our customers. The addition of managing the West Yorkshire Recovery scheme for West Yorkshire Police, took on a demanding role for some 6 years, where the core business continued to grow. The beginning of the new millennium saw Rydam Universal Ltd setting up the new Company “Faymonville UK” with the leading Belgium specialist trailer company Faymonville AG. Initially the sole company, selling trailers and the full after sales service and parts for Faymonville trailers.

2005-2007
The founding of a Property company which acquired land in Selby, built a joint venture business park, which part is still owned and rented out along with other buildings which have been either built or acquired in the process.

2007-2012
The second generation of the family join the business and take a more managerial role helping to push the business forward. With Ryan taking the Faymonville Parts business to another level, and Adam expanding the service and recovery side of the business, including the Faymonville trailer business which is now growing rapidly.

2012-2016
By now Rydam Universal were operating as far afield as Australia, USA and Dubai with different projects. The acquisition By Rydam Developments of premises next door to the original site allowed more expansion. The new offices and parts department, now having over 4,000sq ft of spares for the ever growing Faymonville brand of trailers in the UK. Another innovative brand of equipment that was taken on board was the VDZ towing system, this was developed by our partner in Holland and marketed by ourselves in the UK, exporting as far afield as New Zealand, Australia, Middle East, Korea, and Hong Kong.

2016
A new state of the art workshop was built to accommodate the growing business, with the latest equipment to take the Faymonville trailers and Rydam Universal Ltd into the next generation.

2017
in November 2016 we were assigned the task of locating, collecting and transporting the entire Hewden Crane Hire fleet after their financial collapse. After months of hard work, planning, logistics and problem solving required to assemble a UK wide network of cranes, vehicles and plant equipment, we were very proud to carry out the largest ever sale of Mobile Cranes in the world! But, to top it all off, we gained industry recognition by winning ‘The Heavies’ 2017 ‘Project of the Year’ award!
This was a one of a kind project – The likes of which we will probably never see again. It just goes to prove, that even with a small team, big things are possible!

2018
We agreed a deal with one of the leading winch manufacturers in the pacific region, to market and sell their own brand of winches here in the UK. Novawinch predominantly built for all the major manufacturers, but in 2018 decided to market their own brand which Rydam have had input from their engineering background to produce new winches for the range. Also to help with ideas and issues that have arisen, where we can advise on the relevant marketplace, assisting the company on worldwide trade shows and giving them the experience for forthcoming projects. We have exported winches to one of our partners in the Netherlands and are now exporting them to Australia.

2019
Rydam Universal Ltd Were appointed the UK agent for Falkom Recovery equipment from the Netherlands. This is a new venture, that allows us to supply the latest recovery equipment to the UK market. This will be backed up with the after sales and service centre which will give confidence to the operators of this equipment benefiting from our wealth of expertise in this field, being an engineering company that, actually use the equipment! This alongside our recently developed and marketed “Wheel Lynx” system is taking the company and the new generation forward as we always believe, is the best policy!
Day to day we still remain at the disposal of European transport companies, regularly repatriating damaged and broken-down commercial vehicles back to mainland Europe with the aid of our extensive and reliable UK recovery agent network. We thank you all for your never-ending commitment and support!
